I'm Van Evan Fuller. I have been a commercial illustrator and cartoonist since 1980, working then—obviously!—in ink, paint and paper. In 1991 I ended up at a newspaper, where I was introduced to the Macintosh. At first I condemned it as a tool of the Dark Lord. Then I discovered that I had a knack for it, and I decided it wasn’t.
Unlike a traditional painter, a commercial artist works under deadlines and must re-invent himself on a regular basis to accommodate the requirements of a given project. I am now mercifully free of deadlines and bosses. But I still re-invent myself continually, seeking only to please myself—and you, if I can.
My gallery is an ongoing experiment in swallowing up every imaginable artistic style, philosophy and subject matter. The digital medium allows a diversity of styles and techniques that earlier generations could hardly have imagined. With every new picture, I try to attempt something new. Whether this is evidence of a vast creative range, or of multiple personality disorder, I cannot say. But I know that when I am working, I am like a child so delighted with his birthday that he tries to stuff his whole cake into his mouth, not bothering to spit out the candles.] My gallery is a sort of crazy quilt in which the lack of focus is, in fact, the focus. I do what I please, and I hope that I please you in doing so. I have no interest in what is trending, fashionable, or approved by the self-appointed cultural Powers who preach to the pliable herd.
I’m guessing that you are not part of that herd, and I’m hoping that you will find something here that’s perfect for your home or office. If not, come again: I have literally thousands of pieces in my digital collection, and most of them will soon be posted here. To visit my Rumble video channel, please click here. All the images you'll see are part of my existing collection and can be made available here upon request.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
