It's garish, brutally executed and rather disturbing...except for the cold and regal face of the model, who maintains her dignity and is clearly in control. Maybe the artist is crazy, but the model's aristocratic head is screwed on properly. Well, thank goodness one of us isn't a maniac.
Someone has suggested that the lady is a pixie or fairy queen; and her slim, girlish physique suggests as much. But recall that such magical creatures, for all their beauty, were often inclined to deadly mischief when offended.
