Contemplation: Sepia Study Of Gabby
This is not really a painting, but a sketch for one. I made it some time ago and set it aside, planning to return to it later. Instead I forgot it entirely, and when at last I stumbled upon it by accident, I decided that the sketchiness and crudeness of it worked pretty well.
For what it lacks in polish, a good sketch frequently has more life and personality than the work it inspires—or is likely to inspire. When that’s the case, it’s best to leave well enough alone.
